Shane: "I'll be ringing my belle this christmas."

This is going to be the Christmas I'll remember for the rest of my life-for all the right reasons. Its my last Christmas as a single guy and its also the Christmas ill be marrying my ideal Girl,Gillian.

As you can imagine,Im very,VERY excited,But strangely enough im not nervous. That might all change next Sunday however! To be honest,Ive been so busy with Westlife I havent got time to worry about the big day.

The media keep asking me what Im looking forward to most and I have to be honest by admitting That Im dying to see Gillian's Dress. Husbands to be are not allowed to see the dress before hand and Gillian isnt giving me any Hints about it and so my curiosity is killing me!

One thing is for certain No matter what It looks like I know She's going to look absolutely amazing in it,She is the most beautiful girl in the world to me.

We've known each other since we were around 10 and shes kian's cousin so its going to be a big family affair.

Our wedding is going to be a fairytale hopefully,Thats the way we've planned it.My eldest brother is going to be groomsman and Mark and Kian are going to be two groomsmen along with my two best friends Keith and Brian.

There are five in the bridal party with Gillians sister Joanne being the maid of honour.

The reception is in Ashford castle, which is an amazing place at Christmas time, hopefully the weather will be good too!

And dont worry you will get to see pictures in all the papers the following day as myself and Gillian will come out and pose for the media after the ceremony.

I have to say this to all the fans,You have all been brilliant to help myself and Gillian along,Gillian has always enjoyed the support she has got from fans everywhere.Lots of fans knew about us before we went public and said nothing and It was never a problem,So thank you
all.

Hope your year was as good for you as it was for me,and all the lads here in westlife wish you all a happy christmas.

The people of Ashvem received a unique souvenir of Westlife's two-day visit to their isolated beach-side village. There were gifted a whole new bamboo bridge that offers them safe access from the main road to the picturesque sandbar where the pop group's video was filmed.

"We used the bridge while shooting the film and we are leaving it behind so that the local people can continue to use it. A small gift in return for their hospitality, said the video's director, Max.

Westlife Idol in aweover palatial pad

This imposing palatial pile could perch proudly among the awe
inspiring residents in the Hollywood hills. Its a mansion fit for a
star,But 24 year old Shane Filan of Westlife still cant believe he
owns it. Located in the outskirts of his native Sligo town,Chez Filan
had been a work in progress for the last two and half years. Set to
be completed at the end of January,it will be a luxurios home for
Shane and his long term Girlfriend Gillian, whom he'll wed after
Christmas.

The sumptuous three-storey,seven bedroom pad will have all the
popstar trappings, including its own cinema and indoor swimming
pool,is testament to the phenomenal worldwide success of Westlife, who
this week notched up 12 number one hits in the uk. "When I walk up
and look at it,I cant believe its mine" says Shane, who also owns a
home in Londons leafy Chelsea."Building a house like this is a dream
for me-a dream come true.Ive always been into architecture,I love big
houses,Even as a kid I used to be looking at Hollywood houses in the
magazines and on tv and was mesmerised by the whole thing. The house
we've built has got a chateau-y kind of vibe to it,Its french kind of
architecture,Theres a tower in the middle of one side of it,it has
taken forever to build it,but its nearly sorted,We are moving in at
the end of January"

The 'WE' Shane refers to is another fairytale come true-Gillian
Walsh, the girl he'll marry on Sunday 28th December,He proposed in
Dubai just before last Christmas.

Petite Blonde Beauty Gillian,a couusin of Kian Egan, has been his
childhood sweetheart and their love has survived the pressures and
temptations of a career in the fast lane of showbusiness.
Of all the beauties Shane has encountered in his glitzy, high flying
lifestyle,Gillian is the one who makes his pulse race faster than the
jets that propel him around the globe, "I just love her to bits"
he says "Ive loved her for six years, and ive known her nearly all my
life,Ive said this many times before, shes perfect and shes everything
ive dreamed of in a woman, shes got a great personality
and shes got great legs aswel-that clinched it for me(laughs)"
The perfectly matched couple got to know each other while performing
local musicals like Oliver twist and Grease. "we met each other
through shows and we were friends for 10 years, and then we just got a
bit closer and we started dating,It was the year before the band and
we are still together six years later"

In the early days of Westlife Shane always denied having a girlfriend
to protect her privacy, who was doing a busniess degree at Sligo IT "I
didnt say anything for a couple of years because it was something
that we wanted to keep quieter"he explains. "Gillian was in college
and she didnt want any hassle, she wanted to have a normal college
life, and didnt want to be treated any differently to anyone else,it
wasnt until her last year that the word got out,A lot of the fans
found out before we went public,But most of them understood that she
wanted to be private person and its great that the supported us on
that"

With the scantly clad beauties throwing themselves at pop stars these
days,how did shanes relationship survive?"Im a one woman man,thats
the way ive wanted it to be,I always wanted to find true love,I
wanted to live life this way and luckily,I found it before the band"
he says.

"Im glad I found it before the band because id say id go mad in the
head if I was single in the band,There are so many temptaions and it
kind of plays with your head a bit,For me,I just waNted to stick with
Gillian,If i wasnt going out with Gillian id find it hard to trust
any girl I met"

Despite the thrill of 12 number ones, none compares to the excitement
of Shanes weddin day "Im very excited and cant wait" he admits "Ill
probably be very nervous on the day and in thew week leading up to it
but not right now,Im dying to see Gillians dress but she wont tell me
anything about it and im dying to see what its like"

Although Shane has taken an active interest in planning the big day
he admits that hes left 99% of it to Gillian because of his work
commitments with Westlife "we've decided everything together but
Gillian makes it all happenand we also have guidence of a wedding
planned"

The wedding is in Ballintubber Abbey, the same church Pierce Brosnan
married Keeley Shay Smith and a reception of 400 guests in Ashford
castle will complete the fairytale "its going to be a fairytale
wedding" he smiles "its everything we've ever wanted,Its a christmas
style wedding, hopefully there will be nice weather and not massive
amouts of rain"

The mulitmillionaire singer decided not to sell the rights of his
wedding to a UK magazine "The media are going to be there no matter
what we do,so we will come out and pose for everyone striaght after"
Shane says "we'll do a couple of minutes and then hopefully we'll be
left alone to enjoy our day with family and friends"

Kerry : Tipsy At The Trap

"I don't know if I was sucking the window or just poking my tongue out the night I was photographed at Record of the Year because I was just so drunk.
I was leaving Trap night club and was pictured with Mark Feehily, who's my drinking buddy. We always get drunk together. Westlife were delighted to win and it was like a real life drama backstage - better than Eastenders. And Bryan even cried! Everyone was saying it was the end for the boys when Hey Whatever didn't get to number one, so this award just goes to show that they're here to stay."

Westlife, Boyzone, and RK

Members from two of Ireland's super boybands Westlife and Boyzone joined forces this week at a charity dinner to serve food and drinks to VIP's in Citywest Hotel...

Boyzone & Westlife serve at Celebrity Waiters

Two of Louis Walsh's biggest acts Boyzone and Westlife got together in the name of charity this week posing as Celebrity Waiters at a dinner in Citywest Hotel in aid of the Grace Nolan Foundation.

Bryan & Kerry McFadden serve at Celebrity Waiters

Aswell as the familiar faces of Keith Duffy, Stephen Gately, and Bryan McFadden doing their best Manuel impressions other Celebrity Waiters included Kerry McFadden, Ray Shah, Brian Ormond, and a number of other Irish Popstars.

With the members of Westlife looking so pally-pally with the Boyzone boys it got ShowBiz Ireland thinking...

Bryan shows Mrs Brown his snooker arm

What if Boyzone and Westlife joined forces for a one off charity single to be released next Christmas? It would no doubt be the biggest thing to ever happen to the British and Irish Pop charts and a guaranteed Christmas Number One...

And on paper it seems possible with Ronan Keating indicating he wouldn't mind hooking up with his Boyzone bandmates once more plus there seems to be a close bond between the lads in both bands.

The only thing that could possibly stop the hybrid fusion would be the one-and-only Louis Walsh... After he put the boot-in on Ronan Keating's poor album sales it is hard to see them ever working together again!

RONAN K'S WESTLIFE SONG BAN ~ THANKS TO KA1

It seems all's not well in the Irish pop camp. Despite heavy promotion, Ronan's latest album, Turn It On, has bombed in the charts, so Westlife, who were originally managed by Ronan and Louis Walsh, have asked the talented Mr Keating to duet with them in a bid to revitalise his career. All very nice until you learn that Louis has banned Westlife from singing with Ronan - now and for ever. My source reveals, "The boys feel they owe Ronan a mark of respect as he was so helpful to them in the beginning. But the fued between Louis and Ronan is deeper than anyone knows." Louis has reportedly revealed that he was "glad Ronan's last album failed". "He would not listen to me," said Louis, "and thought he knew better." Ouch!

Westlife : Falling In Love...aww..this iz sweet.

Bryan: When I first met Kerry about three and a half years ago, I thought she was gorgeous. But then I had to go on tour with the band, and I couldn't stop thinking about her. Luckily, she rang me and westarted talking – and there was a connection straight away. I'd justsplit up with my girlfriend at the time. Two months later, when wewere back in the country, I met Kerry again at a concert. We smiledat each other and I realised I'd fallen in love with her. I don'tknow why but, at that moment, before we'd even kissed, I knew I wasin love with her.

Nicky: I believe in love at first sight, too. When I started school,
I came home and told my mum I'd seen the girl I was going to marry.
But I never said a word to Georgina for four years because I was too
scared. But on 8 October 1994 – the day before my 16th birthday, we
had a house party and we kissed for the first time. After that we
were on the phone constantly, every evening after school.
I don't know who actually said, `I love you' first. We just both knew
we felt it. The next summer, I left home to train as a footballer in
Leeds. But we didn't drift apart – we kept seeing each other.

Bryan: It's funny – when you fall in love, you realise the difference
between seduction and romance. Seduction is when you're trying to get
something out of someone; romance is when you want to give something
to someone. When you love someone you want them to love you, and the
next step is making love. That's what it was like for Kerry and me.

Shane: I can't believe I'm getting married at 24; I thought I'd be
much older than that. I was going out with Gillian before the band
even started. I met her when I was 10 years old, so we were friends
for a very long time before we got involved. I can totally trust
Gillian; I know her so well. It's hard to find someone like that. Our
relationship is better than a fairytale.

Mark: When I look at what you all have, I wish I had it, too. At your
weddings, I thought, `I wish that was me'. I'm big-time lonely right
now. But I know my time hasn't come. Maybe it would have been better
if I'd been in a relationship before becoming famous, too, because I
have such issues about fame. I just wonder why all these women are
talking to me and what they're really attracted to. Spending a lot of
time at parties in the West End of London is unnatural. Those places
are shallow and superficial. I'm not going to find a soulmate there.

Kian: Jodi and I have only been seeing each other for five months,
but I hope we'll still have that excitement in five years' time
because that will be the day I'll propose. I told Jodi I love her
after we'd been together for three months. I waited until I was
completely sure before I said it. But I already knew her so well
because we'd been friends for five years.
We started seeing each other a while ago and then our relationship
fizzled out because I'd just come out of another one. But then Jodi
came to see me at a concert and, as soon as I saw her, I knew I had
strong feelings for her. I knew she was "the one".

Bryan: When I first told Kerry I loved her, I actually told her mum!
We were having a few drinks and I turned round to Kerry's mum,
pointed to Kerry and said, `I love her'. Kerry pointed at me and
said, `And I love him'. We'd been together about three weeks.

The proposal

Nicky: I always said I'd get engaged when I felt it was the exact
right moment, and get married soon after, as I don't believe in long
engagements. I proposed in December 2002. I'd been on tour and got
home on Christmas Eve. I rushed straight to our new house and
surprised Georgina with a puppy, then got down on my knee and asked
her to be my wife. Then I gave her the ring; it was perfect – gold
with a teardrop diamond. Last summer, we got married in a French
chateau, which felt like a dream come true.

Shane: I wanted to pick the perfect moment to propose to Gillian as
well, so I waited. Then in November 2002, we went on holiday to Dubai
and I knew the time was right – we'd been together for five years. I
was incredibly nervous, but secretly thought she'd say yes. After
dinner, we walked barefoot on a deserted beach with our trousers
rolled up. Gillian was staring up at the stars when I dangled the
diamond in front of her eyes, so that she just saw this one big star
shining at her. I said, `What do you think of this star, then?' I got
down on one knee and proposed to her. She started crying and then she
said yes. It was the most romantic moment of my whole life.

Kian: That's beautiful. I've never had a big moment like that. Jodi
and I go for romantic meals; we've been to a tropical island; we've
swum with dolphins; we've gone deep-sea diving and surfing together.
But we can just as easily have a romantic moment sitting in a car
park!

Bryan: Kerry and I got engaged twice. The first time, I took her to a
castle in Donegal, went down on bended knee in front of the castle
and propose after being together for less than a month. She said yes
immediately, but when I put the ring on her, it just fell off – it
was too big. After we had our first child, Molly, we got engaged
again, and exchanged new rings in September 2000.

Loving moments

Kian: I love cuddling. Just being close to that person and feeling
secure. That warm emotion of loving a person and showing them you
love them.

Shane: Cuddling, wearing pyjamas and watching telly in bed is my
favourite way to spend an evening together. Gillian has these huge
baby blue pyjamas and the arms are too long for her. That is so cute
to me.

Nicky: I love walking the dog with Georgina. We go down to the castle
near where we live then walk to the beach with the dog. Just the two
of us on a deserted beach…

Bryan: I think absence makes the heart grow fonder. Because we're on
tour all the time, I'm not into taking Kerry to hotels or for fancy
dinners. So, for me, there's nothing more special than being at
home –
we're such a solid family. Ok, so we've had our hiccups, like the
furore about the lap dancer who claimed I cheated on Kerry on my stag
night. But it was just a glitch. We carried on with life, we got
married, we had a baby and bought a house. All my fantasies have come
true.

Looking for love

Kian: I'd hate to be looking for love right now. The more famous you
are, the more unbelievable-looking women will be chatting to you and,
nine times out of 10, they'll only want to know you because you're in
the band.

Mark: Some girls drive 80 miles to London then look you straight in
the face and are so blatant. They're saying, `I am a groupie and I
would love to come back to your hotel room'. For me, it's not an
attractive way to spend an evening. I'm a bit deeper than that. But
you start feeling sorry for the people who are sitting waiting for us
night after night in the hotel rooms. These girls are degrading
themselves in a way. It's unnatural to sit outside lifts and wait,
hoping you catch someone's eye and marry them or start a
relationship.

Shane: These girls are diving at me with Gillian standing right
beside me having a drink. But Gillian trusts me; I wouldn't have
asked her to marry me if she didn't trust me.

Kian: I admit I kissed some girls because they were offered to me on
a plate. I think when we all started out, having our choice of girls
was a novelty. But I don't want that sort of relationship any more.
Why would I want to be with someone who doesn't want to be with me
for me? And some of these girls are fake – not just their
personalities, but fake tan, fake fingernails, fake breasts as well.

Mark: I agree. But if I found my soulmate and she happened to have
breast implants, I wouldn't rule her out. I just want to be able to
talk non-stop with a girl and to know I can go through life with her.
To be friends with her, that's what I'm searching for.

Shane: If you go out looking for love, you won't find it. If it's
going to happen, it'll happen. You have a better chance of someone in
a newsagent catching your eye than finding love at a showbiz party,
so just bide your time and wait until you're no longer in Westlife.

Mark: I have faith in the future. I have real faith that I'll find my
soulmate. This won't be my life forever and, when things are
different, there'll be a greater chance to meet people who are like
me – who will perceive me differently to how they perceive me now.
But saying that, I could meet `the one' tomorrow morning – and I hope
I do.

devastating warning to the group's fans - they'll never marry
them. "We're not here to marry fans," he said. "Whatever they think,
we're never going to marry them. They can dream all they want. We're
here to make music and perform. Westlife is our job and we love to

Westlife on America

This is from a recent interview... Nicky and Kian talk about
Westlife's plans for America:

"God knows what is down the road, but hand on heart I don't think
Westlife will end for a long time yet. And when it does end it won't
be a drastic thing, it'll be amicable. As far as we are concerned, we
are starting to work on Greatest Hits II. America is still in the
pipeline. Who knows what will happen? We could outlive the big
American rock thing that is going on just now there.

"In two years time, pop might be the new big thing over there and
what better than being the biggest boy band in the world when you go
to break America.

"There is nothing happening day to day but in our heads and in our
manager Louis Walsh's head, we're not through with America just yet."

Kian continued: "If American record labels turn round and say they
feel the American public are willing to accept a band like us, then
we'll all jump on it straight away."

Nicky is so determined to make sure Westlife take every opportunity
that comes their way, he has told wife Georgina kids will have to
wait.

He said: "I think we're being a little bit selfish at the moment and
taking our time. There are no plans for kids in the immediate future
and I've always said if it happens, but not for a couple of years."

Westlife in Seoul

Boy Band Westlife Comes East

By Yoon Ja-young
Staff Reporter
One of the legends of boy-band history, Westlife, is having their
second Seoul concert at the Olympic Park Fencing Stadium in southern
Seoul on Dec. 14. The five young Irish men followed in the footsteps
of internationally successful Irish musicians such as U2, Cranberries
and Sinead O'Connor, when seven consecutive singles jumped to No. 1
on the U.K. pop charts, including their debut single ``Swear It
Again'' in 1999. It was the biggest-selling debut single ever in
Ireland, and the quintet were recorded in the Guinness Book of
Records, beating the Beatles who had five successive singles at the
top.

The group started with Kian Egan, Shane Filan and Mark Feehily, who
performed together in the musical ``Grease'' in Sligo, Ireland in
1998. They later added two more members, Nicky Byrne and Bryan
McFadden, changing their name from Westside, which a number of
existing bands shared, to Westlife.

Unlike other boy bands that focus on dance music, the quintet were
more inclined towards pop ballad, making a perfect harmony of sweet
male voices. Since their pop melodies are accessible to middle-aged
fans as well, the group is known to draw a wide range of fans to
their concert _ teenagers, hand-in-hand, with their parents. Westlife
sold over 17 million albums worldwide and about a million copies
here, where ballad is a popular genre. Among their hits are ``Uptown
Girl,'' ``Flying without Wings,'' ``Queen of My Heart'' and ``My
Love,'' which was on air over 500 times on local radio and selected
as the favorite pop song in a survey by a local radio program last
year.

The group became even more familiar to local fans when they sang ``My
Love'' at the Nobel Peace Prize Celebration for former President Kim
Dae-jung in Oslo, Norway in 2000. Tickets for their last concert here
two years ago sold out in two weeks, and the band chose Korea as the
first destination of their world tour to promote their latest album
``Turnaround.''

On the Seoul stage, local singer and actress Jjang Nara will join the
five young men in singing Christmas carols. For tickets, priced from
44,000 won to 88,000 won, go to www.ticketlink.co.kr or
www.ticketpark.com, or call 1588-7890 or 1544-1555. For more

Okej interview

Swedish Fans:

I can barely sleep at night because I think of you and I can’t get a boyfriend coz i love you. How can I stop being dependent of Westlife?

Shane: Get a boyfriend so u can have something else to think about, thats the best tips i can give you. Dont think soo much about us.

Swedish Fans:

Have u ever made a ful of yourselfs in an interview?

Kian: Yeah, a lot of times! By saying stupid things, or explaining something wrong and not knowing what to say...

Swedish Fans:

Gurls like Britney and Christina have to take off their clothes or dress sexy to sell albums. How is it with guys? We never see you in string underwear...

Kian: Guys used to dress sexier , look at Take That and Backstreet Boys a few years ago, they used to be topless. Now it would feel wierd to see guys topless. But guys on the other hand think that its cool to see a gurl with no top on. We like it. But the gurls dont agree with that when it comes to guys. When we started Westlife the record company tried to make us go to a gym , but we’re not that kind of band...

Swedish Fans:

If you could leave Westlife for a day and be a normal guy, what would you do?

Kian: We are normal guys anyway. When we’re not working or on tour we can move arounf freely. Of course people recognis us sometimes, but we go to the movies, to restaurants and stuff. But it would be stupid to go to a pub on a Friday night coz there always are some guys that wanna fight.

Swedish Fans:
If u could go back in time and choose a song that u could say that u wrote, which would it be?

Shane: Imagine by John Lennon!

Kian: Happy Birthday by Stevie Wonder

Swedish Fans:
What do u think about the fans which download your songs from the net?

Bryan: Its hard to think somthing. Of course it affect us. We work hard for our music and if someone downloads it from the net, we don’t get paied for that. But we want that the fans will hear our music and if they download it from the net....maybe after a while they will buy the album and come to our concerts...

Swedish Fans:

How did your moms used to call you?

Shane: She just always calls me Shane.

Kian: My mom used to call me Kiki. I have a niece named Kianne, the gurl name of Kian and now we call her Kiki.

Swedish Fans:

What are you gonna do for Christmas?

Shane: My Christmas will be extra special coz Im gonna get married on the 28th so that the whole Christmas holiday will be a wedding holiday. Then we’re going to Hawaii on our honeymoon.

Kian: I’ll be home with my family and friends. And of course I’m gonna go to Shane’s wedding!

Swedish Fans:

Is it true that Nicky will have a solo album in the summer?

Shane: No! We have not even heard about that until now. No one will have a solo album.

Kian: If any of us will do that, it will be the end for Westlife.

Swedish Fans:

What would it cost for you to song in someones wedding?

Shane: Aaaahh, around 350.000 euro, I guess. But i think I can get the lads to sing at my wedding for free, but I wont do that...

Swedish Fans:

Why do Nicky and Kian sing less then the others?

Kian: Because we dont sing as well as the others . When we record the songs, of course the ones who sings better sing the most , but maybe some parts of the songs fit better for us. On the other hand we are important for the band, coz without us, it would not sound like Westlife.

Swedish Fans:

Does Mark have a girlfriend?

Mark: No, I don’t. I’m a bit jelous of the guys sometimes coz they found thier gurls, but its quite cool to be singel as well. Im the only on in the band who does not have a girlfriend. Even Kian has a girlfriend now.

Swedish Fans:

Did all of you want to make the same kind of album?

Kian:While we were touring last year we though, which is the next step for Westlife? We felt that a new album was the best we could do. A long break would have been a desaster, look at Backstreet Boys, they are forgotten now.

Swedish Fans:

Who decides who will sing what?

Mark: Mostly the producer. He listens and chooses which voice is better for the song. It does not really matter for us as long as the result is as good as possible.

Swedish Fans:

Do u guys fight sometimes?

Nicky: Yes! Of course! Like brothers. Its usually about small stuff that we fight, but we get over it fast. We are together so much so it would be wierd if we didnt fight.

Swedish Fans:

When u choose the songs for the album, do you choose them coz u like them or coz u think the fans will like them?

Nicky: Good question!

Shane: 70% of the songs we like and 30% we know the fans will like. This time we like all the songs on the album. Its not so long and quality better then quantity.

Swedish Fans:

Bryan, u are a dad now, how is it not to be able to be wiht your children that much?

Bryan: They are still very young and i see them very often. Many dads see their kids 1 hour in the evening before they go to bed. When I’m home, I’m home all the time for many weeks in a row. I see them more than other dads maybe see their kids.

Swedish Fans:

Are there any Westlife songs that you dont like?

Shane: Queen of my heart is probably the last one on the list.

Kian: We made a song called, Tunnel of Love , that wasnt really good.

Swedish Fans:

Which is the youngest girl you would date?

Shane: If i wasnt getting married soon....probably, 18.

Nicky: 17 would be ok...

Shane: It depends on how mature she is. You can find an 18 year old acting like a 4 year old and u can find a 14 year old acting like a 25 year old.

Nicky: My mom was 14 when she metmy dad. She lied and sayd she was 17. My dad was 19.

Swedish Fans:

Is it true that Nicky cant swim?

Nicky: Neah, I can swim, but Im quite bad at it. I stay at the less deep part of the pool :P.

Shane: Im even worse, Ive just darred to go to the deeper part and learned how to stay at the surface....

Swedish Fans:

How many swedish words do you know?

Mark: Dra åt helvete (go to hell)

Nicky: Du är rolig (you are funny)

Kian: Sturecompagniet, Cafe Opra (names of some places)

Mark: Mat (food)

Shane: Tack så mycket (thank you very much)

Mark: Hej då (bye)

Westlife 'gutted' at missing Celtic tie

Chart-toppers Westlife have admitted they are bored of touring because they keep missing favourite team Celtic's big games.

The Parkhead fanatics, who were in Edinburgh yesterday for the Royal Variety Performance, planned to stay until tonight for the Celtic versus Bayern Munich Champions League match.

But the Irish boyband members Bryan, Kian, Mark, Shane and Nicky were devastated to discover they have to perform in Sweden tonight and will miss the game.

The Irish heart-throbs are regular visitors to Celtic Park and even dedicated their success to Martin O'Neill. But they will have to call home from Sweden to hear the match result.
The band also play five-a-side matches for charity in the Glasgow side's green and white hoops.
Bryan and Kian managed to catch the Hearts v Hibs Edinburgh derby on Sunday at Tynecastle and they admitted their hearts will be in the east end of Glasgow tonight.
A spokesman for the band said: "The schedule for the new album is very hectic and they've missed a few games lately but they'll be backing the Bhoys wherever they are."
Fan Alanna Corbett, 24, who runs an unofficial Westlife website, said: "Quite a few of the girls brought along their tops to get signed and a lot of the fans only became Celtic supporters because the band are."

BOYBAND Westlife could come to Coventry’s rescue.

Pop star Bryan McFadden says he is putting together a consortium to buy his beloved Sky Blues — who are more than £15million in debt.

The Irish pin-up, who has Leeds shares, also wants to give boss Gary McAllister cash for players.

But McAllister confused McFadden, 23, with fellow band member Nicky Byrne.

He joked: “I’d need to get Westlife names sorted before it could happen!”
Sky Blues chairman Mike McGinnity added: “I would welcome Bryan with open arms if he came round for a coffee to talk.”

Shane

Shane was there with fiancee Gillian Walsh, who he will marry on
December 28.

He said: "I`m just counting the days now until our wedding. It might
break some fans hearts but it would have broken my heart if I didn`t
marry her."

Shane & Gillian's wedding invites have been sent out

Westlife's soon to be newlyweds Shane Filan and Gillian Walsh have
relieved their wedding guests of trying to find them the perfect
wedding present.

The couple have asked the hundreds of guests attending their December
28 wedding in Ashford Castle not to buy them presents, but to give a
donation to the North West Hospice instead.

While his bandmate, Nicky Byrne and his wife Georgina Ahern, were
criticised for receiving a six-figure sum for their wedding
photographs, Shane will allow friends and family to take pictures of
the happy couple.

Invitations to Shane's glitzy wedding were sent out last week and
they include the request that guests donate money to the hospice in
lieu of presents for the happy couple.

Following their wedding reception in Ashford Castle on December 28
the couple will fly out to Hawaii for their honeymoon.

Shane celebrated his stag night with close pals at the weekend,
attending the Chelsea Vs Manchester United match.

Watching the game from a specially hired VIP box, the revellers were
provided with a four-course lunch and champagne to get the party
started.

And the Westlife star had more than one reason to celebrate following
the news that their third album "Turnaround" has shot into the Irish
and British charts at No. 1.

The band had been haunted by recent news reports that their career
was in free-fall following the failure of their single "Hey Whatever"
to reach No 1 on either side of the Irish Sea.

However the band's new single, "Mandy", made famous by Barry
Mannilow, debuted at No. 1 in the singles charts.

For this achievement the band entered the Guinness Book of Records
for the greatest number of singles to debut at No. 1.
The band have also sold out five nights in the Point Theatre in May
2004.

Although the three Sligo members did say they would like to include a
Sligo show on their forthcoming tour, no details of a possible return
to their home town have been announced yet.

Nicky Missed Shane's Stag Night

Some mothers do have'em. Nicky Byrne from Westlife gave bandmate
Shane Filan's stag night a miss so that he could keep a date with his
mother-in-law!

Nicky had promised Miriram Ahern, he would attend her annual charity
ball in aid of Children At Risk in Ireland (CARI)and kept his word
even though his pals were out on the tiles celebrating the end of
Shane's single days. Shane celebrated with the rest of the band, his
brother Finbarr and a couple of close pals in a private box at the
Chelsea-Man. Utd match.

'Nicky was great to come along as promised,' Miriam told The Diary.
Ireland's favourtie bachelor, Bertie Ahern, tunred up to wish Miriam
the best and greet fellow guests. Have you ever met a seperated
couple that get on better than those two? Georgina and Nicky donated
their old pool table, which sold for E4,000, while Paul Sheeran
donated a fabulous diamond cross. The night raised a total of E70,000.

WESTLIFE HOOK UP WITH MARTINE FOR AMERICA

Irish boyband WESTLIFE have enlisted the help of LOVE ACTUALLY star MARTINE McCUTCHEON for their latest attempt to break the American market.
The FLYING WITHOUT WINGS group failed in their bid to crack the US two years ago, but are poised to compile an album of tracks chosen specifically to appeal to Americans.
And one artist they've asked to collaborate with them on the LP is Martine - who previously scored solo singing success in her native Britain. (BH/OKN/TN)

a near split up

Westlife have revealed how their gruelling schedule almost caused
them to split up.

The Irish pop band have had a record breaking 12 number one singles
in the UK, and won the UK record of the year for Mandy.

But Mark Feehily told MTV Europe: "We knew that we had to change how
we worked or give up our careers.

"Now our tour manager makes sure that we have at least one day off
every two or three weeks, it may not sound a lot, but it's more than
we used to get.

"But none of us like to take time off because we love what we do so
much."

And he added: "We want to be like the Bee Gees - around forever. In
music terms we want to become more than just an act that people like
for a few years and then tire of it.

Hat-trick for Westlife

Irish pop band Westlife have scooped the Record of the Year 2003
title, making it a hat-trick for the Irish crooners.

They proved they still had a loyal following by beating off
competition from 10 other finalists in a telephone and text vote
across the ITV regions in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern
Ireland.

Westlife, who topped this year's contest with their version of Barry
Manilow's Mandy, have previously won with Flying Without Wings and My
Love but had not been nominated for two years.

Busted came second with Year 3000, followed by Daniel Bedingfield
with If You're Not The One.

The lads said they were "shocked and amazed" at winning the accolade
which proved that despite being "old fellas" their fans had not
deserted them.

They said: "This year, honestly we didn't know what was going to
happen we haven't been nominated for the past two years. It's
unbelievable."

The lads continued: "We thought honestly we'd get 2nd or 3rd behind
Busted and Daniel Bedingfield. We were surprised by the votes. People
said you're not going to win in London as you're not as popular there
so we couldn't believe it when we won the vote in London.

"To get 1st place was amazing. We were really shocked. We're old
fellas now, and we've come back and won The Record of the Year 2003.
We know we've still got fans. People are still voting for us and it
means a hell of a lot, it's so emotional.

"People are wondering when it's going to end for us. Never! The five
of us don't want it to end, it's like a marriage.

"It's was unbelievably nerve-wrecking. Fair play to everyone that was
here, it was great fun backstage, we had a laugh and a couple of
bottles of champagne.

"It's a great day for Ireland - we won Miss World too!"

In the band...

WESTLIFE band member Nicky says that being in a band is like playing for Celtic.

The group who had a glint in their Irish eyes as they performed to an intimate audience at Clyde 1's Cash for Kids yesterday reckon that they have a lot in common with football.

Nicky told the Razz: ''As a band everyone performs as a whole unit and we have to give thingsour full attention. If you were playing for Celtic it would be the same.''

officially released today.

Westlife will be back in Sweden in May with two concerts.

Life's so cosy for ex-Kitten

She might be a pop star and TV presenter who is married to a heart-
throb, but that doesn't shield Kerry McFadden from real life, as she
told JENNY SCOTT. . .

FOR a few moments you can believe that Kerry McFadden is a typical
working mum. "I've just taken Molly to nursery," she explains,
referring to one of her two daughters. "And I've still got the
cleaning to do and the washing."

Then, you remember she's the former Atomic Kitten with the bubbly
personality who's married to boyband star Bryan McFadden.

"It's so funny," she says. "I got asked the other day whether I do
housework and I had to joke, 'No, I get my butler to do it.'

"Of course I do my own shopping and washing. We have a really normal
life. We live in Dublin, which is nice because we don't get the
paparazzi chasing us and we don't have the press in our face all the
time. Our daughters see their mum and dad on the telly and think it's
really normal."

Not that Kerry, 23, hasn't had to endure press speculation about her
marriage, after Bryan was reported to have been involved with a
lapdancer on the eve of their wedding.

But they have, she insists, come through that now. "We love family
life," she says firmly. "I enjoy being at home.

"I would love a little boy to go with our two girls, but not just
yet. Give me a chance!"

Instead, Kerry hopes to combine her demanding life as a young mum
with the successful and diverse showbusiness career she's building
for herself.

After making a name for herself with cheeky Scouse girl band Atomic
Kitten she made headlines when she quit the group just before they
made it big with their single Whole Again.

However, Kerry says it was a decision she was forced to take.

"I left Atomic Kitten because I was really ill.

"I had a nervous breakdown. I didn't even know I was pregnant at the
time.

"Then I got a job with SMTV, but when they found out I was having a
baby they thought it probably wouldn't be a good idea to have me
presenting a children's show.

"I've guest presented it since then though and I'm doing it again in
a few weeks' time."

Indeed, Kerry's TV career has really taken off. She's presented a
string of talked-about shows including Loose Women, Britain's Sexiest
and Elimidate. She's due to co-present a new highlights show with
Eamonn Holmes and is also down to appear on Loose Lips, a Living TV
talk show currently hosted by Melinda Messenger. More intriguingly,
however, Kerry's taking time off from the TV circuit to star in the
sharp and witty Vagina Monologues at Manchester's Palace Theatre
between Tuesday November 25 and Saturday November 29.

"I've never done anything like this before," admits Kerry. "The last
time I was on stage I was eight-years-old playing Buttons in the
school panto! But the Vagina Monologues is a hilarious show and it's
all great experience for me.

"My mum and I went to see the show in Chester and we loved it."

Now she's treading the boards, does Kerry plan to make another
dramatic U-turn in her career?

"I was asked to do Grease next month," she reveals. "But I turned it
down because I wanted to spend Christmas with the kids.

"I do miss singing and dancing and I'd love to step up on stage just
one last time.

"But I wouldn't go back into a pop band - it's so demanding. I love
TV presenting because I can take on as much work as I want and still
make sure I'm there for the kids."

Despite the demands, Kerry insists she wouldn't discourage her
daughters from making the move into showbusiness.

"Molly sings her head off all the time," she laughs.

"She sits in the back seat of the car, giving it her best. She's
definitely going to be a performer. Bryan lets her go up on stage
when he's playing with Westlife and she stands there and waves at all
the fans.

"She's a real little show-off, but you can't blame her. After all,
she's got us for parents!"

Nicky & Georgina at the Cari Ball...

It was definitely a family affair at the Cari Ball in Jurys Hotel last Friday night with Westlife's Nicky Byrne's just-as-famous in-laws showing up for the party.

Nicky Byrne may be one fifth of the biggest boyband in the world but when you're married to the daughter of the Irish Taoiseach and sister to one of Ireland most aspiring authors you can't always take centre stage.

Nicky and his new wife Georgina looked as much in love last Friday night at the Cari Ball as they ever did.

And Georgina's famous family including the Irish Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and author Cecilia Ahern were there, as was her mother Miriam, who is separated from Bertie.

Meanwhile across town Eddie Irvine was playing host in his plush Bar Cocoon to twelve beautiful international models, the former F1 ace even posed for ShowBiz Ireland with Swede Olga at the back of the bar.

Eddie's stunning Donegal girlfriend Michelle Doherty was also present.

Make Mandy Record Of The Year on Saturday...

Westlife's Mandy single has made it through to the final of Record Of
The Year, which is taking place at 5.45pm next Saturday (December 6th)
on ITV.

Voting for the first phase of the competition started last weekend, with
the artists responsible for the 20 biggest selling singles of the year.
This has now been narrowed down to 10 finalists, including Westlife.

The band won in 1999 with Flying Without Wings - still an achievement
they rate amongst the highest points of their career - and again in 2000
with Fool Again.

You can help them make it a fabulous (and certainly unprecedented)
hat-trick on Saturday by tuning in and voting - the main show, which
will niclude a performance from the band, runs from 5.45-6.55pm, and the
results show begins at 9.30pm.

Details of how to vote will be revealed on the main show, so make sure
you tune in to find out what to do!

Westlife’s Kian in ‘dispute over €12 taxi charge’

Gardai in Sligo are investigating a complaint made against Westlife heart-throb Kian Egan by a Sligo hackney driver.

The driver claimed the Sligo singer was abusive and refused to pay a €12 fare in the early hours of Sunday morning last.

However, the Westlife star has refuted these claims, saying whatever he told the driver was in retaliation for what the driver himself had said.

And Kian, who is not in Sligo this week, said he will be making a formal complaint against the driver when he returns to his home town.

The news of Kian’s row with the driver was made public in the Irish Mirror on Monday.
The driver claimed he picked up Kian, his girlfriend, Hollyoaks actress Jodi Albert, and some friends outside Sligo Garda Station after 3am on Sunday morning last, November 30.

The driver had his 13 year-old daughter in the car with him at the time and claimed that Egan was abusive to both himself and his daughter, using foul language.
The driver eventually dropped Egan and his pals off at 3.50am. He told the Westlife millionaire that he would only charge them E12 rather than E18 for the trip, but said the singer refused to pay.

Following this incident the driver went to Sligo Garda Station at 5am to make a complaint. He was advised to come back later that morning to lodge the complaint.
In a brief statement given yesterday, Monday, Kian Egan said he had not been involved in paying the cab fare, but said the fare had been offered to the driver.
He added that Gardai had so far not contacted him about the incident.

Westlife take on Cowell

Talking to dotmusic Westlife's Kian and Mark confessed that they
would probably knock Simon Cowell out if he gave them one of his
famous dressing downs.

"I think a big part of the reality TV shows is the sheer brutal
honesty of the judges," he said.

"But, unfortunately I think that sometimes the opinion is altered by
the want of controversial TV footage.

"Let's say, for instance, that Simon had ten contestants on in a row
that he actually liked. I don't believe for a second that he'd
actually say every one was amazing. I think he'd feel that he had to
be a bit nasty to some of them for the TV.

"So the audience at home still get their little bit of seeing poor
young people getting stabbed in the chest, or whatever.

"I probably would have knocked Simon Cowell out if I went on it," he
added.

Nonetheless, Kian confessed that, had Westlife not already been a
fully formed pop unit, they would have considered appearing on the
program.

"We were so hungry for being in a pop act like Westlife we would have
gone to the extent of that," he said.

"I think Pop Idol is a good show for people who don't really get an
opportunity for people in the music industry to see them if they're
really talented.

"But at the same time I think it's way overkill now and it's time for
it to go away.

"At this stage there are so many acts in the industry, pop acts
especially, so many boybands, so many girlbands that people are just
going to get their hearts broken. An act will get signed and then
dropped a week later, it's not a good thing to happen."

Westlife are currently at number one in the UK chart with 'Mandy' and
you can watch a full video interview with Kian and Mark on dotmusic
soon.

Embassy launch report

Westlife last night celebrated - well, lots of things actually, with
a party at the Irish Embassy in London.

The band were commemorating 5 years in the business, the release of
their 5th album, and of course their current Number 1 single, Mandy.

The Embassy itself is a lovely building, and the event was held in a
beautiful, ornate room. The band were introduced by the Ambassador
himself, and were then presented with awards by the lovely Martine
McCutcheon.

They then performed 5 songs from the new album Turnaround, with a
live band behind them. They sang Mandy, On My Shoulder, Obvious, Lost
In You and Hey Whatever, getting into the last track in particular.

After a couple of hours' more drinking, chatting and eating (very
tasty) nibbles at the Embassy, it was off to eat 5 courses (ouch!) at
Cafe Royale on Regent Street.

All in all it was a fab night, and we should have some pics for you
next week...

Kerry told to zip it

WESTLIFE singer Bryan McFadden has pleaded with wife Kerry not to reveal their secrets on I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.

Kerry, 23, is considering going on the jungle reality show early next year.

But Bryan, 23 — whose song Mandy is at No1 in the singles chart — fears she would be too open about their marriage.

A show insider said: “Kerry is a favourite with Granada bosses because of her bubbly manner and she always says what she thinks.

They think her curvy figure and dirty laugh will be a big hit with viewers.

“Kerry is very interested but has been talking it over carefully with Bryan. He is worried that the show may not be the best career move for her as a TV presenter.”

Mum-of-two Kerry is a regular co-host on ITV1’s Loose Women.

Other stars rumoured to be in the frame for I’m A Celebrity, include EastEnders’ Sid Owen, 31, busty glamour model Lindsey Dawn McKenzie, 25, and Lord Brocket, 52 — who spent three years in jail for fraud.

Westlife

And to celebrate their achievements, including yet another No.1
record, the lads from Westlife - Bryan McFadden, Mark Feehily, Shane
Feelan, Nicky Byrne and Kian Egan - were honoured by their record
company with a dinner for family and friends at the Elysium club. At
the bash, which was also to celebrate the launch of their new album
Turnaround, Bryan, 23, told 3am that he has other ambitions... he
wants to be the President of Ireland.

"I'm deadly serious about it," he told us. "It's something I want to
do after the band. It's the perfect job. You get a big house, a
private jet and loads of security guards."
