The 13th number one for Westlife in England (04-11-2005)

This week the new Westlife album 'Face to Face' was world wide released. The album contains 11 new hits (on European version) and one of them is the new single 'You raise me up'.

This Monday they will announce which spot their album will have in the charts. But it will be sure Westlife will break new records.

Already in the first week 'You raise me up' ended up on the number 1 spot in England! This is their 13th number one hit and with this Westlife is the most succesful artist since the Beatles! Robbie Williams is going to have a difficult time to keep his album on the number 1 position!!

Mark: I could consider myself dating a fan

Who hasn¡¦t been laying in bed dreaming away with Flying Without Wings playing in the background? Now the Irish boys are back with a whole new thing ¡V actually a little bit old fashioned, but they¡¦re still as cute! We¡¦ve been talking with the only single one in the band, Mark , and found out how to charm him och who he would kiss under the mistletoe if he could choose.

You could easily think that the boys in Westlife would be snotty considering they¡¦re world famous now. But they¡¦re not, at least not Mark and he¡¦s single too! Oh and one thing...he could consider dating a fan!

Are you looking for a girlfriend?
Yeah, all the time. But I¡¦m not deperate to meet someone but at the same time it would be very nice to fall in love.

What type of girl do you want?
I don¡¦t know...someone nice and sweet ¡V someone cool. I don¡¦t have a type, it¡¦s just all about the chemistry between two people. If I would say I wanted a blonde girl with blue eyes then maybe a brunette with brown eyes would turn out to be the perfect one.

If you would meet your dreamwomen before Christmas. What would you give her as a Christmas present?
I don¡¦t know, something she could bring along with her (when she looks at it) that reminds her of me and us ¡V what we have. It could be anything, something typical like a ring or a necklace. Some people are trying to be very unique, but I think traditions work.

What¡¦s the most romantic thing you could do on Christmas?
All the candles, warm clothes and cuddling in front of the fireplace is all you need. Christmas doesn¡¦t need anything extra, it¡¦s already romantic enough as it is.

Which famous person would you like to kiss under the mistletoe if you could choose?
I have to say Angelina Jolie. Her lips are amazing! But I prefer unknown lips if I could choose.

How does it feel that there are thousands of girls out there who are willing to do anything to have that kiss?
It feels like an amazing gift. To be able to give someone the greatest experience of the life by just signing your name on a piece of paper or taking a picture with them. But I¡¦m trying to not think about it too much. At the same time as it¡¦s very flattering, it gets scary when you think that you have the power to change someone¡¦s life very much.

Could you imagine yourself dating a fan?
It depends on what you mean. If you mean a real hardcorefan who follows us everywhere we go then...I probably wouldn¡¦t want to date someone who gave up her entire life for someone that much. It gets weird in a relationship. But just because someone likes your music is not a reason to take that person off your list of people I would like to date. I like a lot of people¡¦s music but I relly hope they don¡¦t think I¡¦m a total freak just because of that.

Describe a perfect Christmas.
I wake up at twelve. When I was younger I used to go up at five in the morning just to check out what Santa has brought with him, but now I don¡¦t get as nice present anymore, mostly socks ¡V so that¡¦s why I¡¦m asleep til twelve. After that I go visit my grans and my cousins. Then I eat together with the relatives for about five hours. On the night I go out with my friends.

Have you ever given a total flop present to a girl?
When I was really young I took my mums really nice red roses in the garden. I wanted to give them to a girl in my class who I was dating at the time. I cut them all off except from maybe two, and then I gave them to my girlfriend. They day after she broke up with me so I got in a lot of trouble for destroying my mum¡¦s roses and then getting dumped the day after. I think you can see that as a flop, a major flop actually.

What is your New Years resolution for 2005?
I really wanna quit smoking, and then I wanna get more selfconfident too. Everyone thinks that just because you¡¦ve made it big, you get really confident, but I could need some more selfesteem.

Exclusive Westlife Shane buys himself a helicopter for Christmas

WESTLIFE star Shane Filan has bought himself a helicopter - and his New Year resolution is to be flying it by the summer.

The hunky singer has already splashed out on five top-of-the-range BMWs and a Ferrari since hitting the big time.

He now feels the sky's the limit. The 25-year-old said: 'It was a few hundred grand, but I just love helicopters.

'I really want to get my licence. I've been on a few helicopters with the band and I loved it. I felt it would be good to have my own one.

'I'd love to learn how to fly it. I'm going to start learning after next year's tour in the spring.

'I want to learn in two or three weeks.

'I think it's one of these things that once you get the feel for it, it's fine.'

The last time the boys flew to Glasgow, they used Shane's helicopter, pictured right, instead of hiring one.

Shane will need many hours of flying practice before he is qualified to take passengers. But, once he's ready, he'll have at least three people who'll be willing to hitch a ride.

Band mate Kian Egan said: 'When he's passed his test and everything, we'll have no problems.

'But we'll maybe give hima year anda bit to get the hang of things. ' Mark Feehily has also had some flying lessons, but he says he is keen to buy a studio rather than have his head in the clouds.

'Nicky has bought a Ferrari, but I have nothing,' said Mark.

'I have had a few flying lessons, but I want to build a nice studio for myself. That's after I get a house and car.'

The boys are looking forward to coming to Glasgow's SECC next March on tour and they now feel they've passed all the record industry tests.

Mark said: 'We've broken the three albums and greatest hits barrier.

'I don't think we'll be doing any opera in the future.'We'll leave it to G4 for that.

' We're really enjoying doing what we do now and fully appreciate everything.'

They say they've had a very enjoyable year performing their Frank Sinatra tribute album Allow Us To Be Frank.

And they have even had their eyes opened to a new breed of fans.

Mark said: 'We've certainly met some interesting people.

'We were invited to an Italian restaurant and got treated as if we were the real Rat Pack.

'We got the thumbs-up from them and that was pretty cool.

'They were real Italians.' During the festive season, the boys are all planning to spend some time with their families.

And rebelling against their sometimes too clean-cut image, Westlife are adamant that they are now grown men who like a good drink on occasion.

Nicky Byrne said: 'There will be lots of drink involved.

'We'll be boozing and eating turkey. The whole cliche of clean-cut boys is so untrue.

'My New Year's resolution is to give up swearing, but I can never f***ing do it.'

WESTLIFE BRINGS JOY TO FAN

WESTLIFE star SHANE FILAN has brought joy to a teenage girl fan recovering from life-saving surgery - by contacting her while she was in hospital.

The FLYING WITHOUT WINGS singer, 25, called 18-year-old SARAH MOLE as she recovered in South Wales from a brain operation to remove a birthmark which causes up to 25 epileptic fits a day.

Mole's mother KAREN says, "Her face was a picture when she realised it was Shane. It has made her Christmas."

Shane and Gillian move into their dream home

Westlife’s Shane Filan and his wife Gillian have moved into their seven-bedroomed impressive mansion in Carraroe.

The couple, who moved in last week, say they are still moving their belongings into their home and will be for the next couple of weeks.

Gillian (25) said: "We have moved in but not officially as such. It’s looking like it will be a year to the day of our wedding, when we can finally say that we have moved in all of our stuff."

The couple got married on December 28 last year.

Gillian was speaking about their plans at the opening of her sister Joanna’s handmade jewellery shop "Anna Rose" in Sligo last Saturday afternoon. The name "Anna Rose" has a particular family signifigance. Gillian’s second name is Rose, their mum’s name is Rosaleen and their granny’s name is Rose.

Shane, also 25, couldn’t make it for the launch but sent on a bouquet of flowers, wishing them luck for the opening.

Shane and Gillian have spent the last three years making sure their home turned out the way they wanted.

The house has a home cinema with a huge screen and hundreds of movies to choose from. This is Shane’s favourite room along with the huge snooker room.

Gillian added: "We have spent a lot of time picking out the furniture and planning the décor but we are very happy with it."

Her favourite room has to be their main bedroom. “There is an ornate bed, lovely furniture and a few personal touches. It’s what I’ve always dreamed of as a kid.”

The couple though have insisted that they will not be doing a magazine photoshoot inside their home, saying they want to keep it as private as possible. Already, huge offers for photographs have been flooding in.

Westlife are doing a huge promotional tour of Europe at the moment for their album "Allow Us To Be Frank".

Kim and Westlife star get touchy Feehily

We hear of a new friendship blossoming between Girls Aloud's Kimberley Walsh and Mark Feehily from Westlife.

The 22-year-old singer watched Mark, 24, perform with his band at G.A.Y on Saturday and they made a beeline for each other after the performance.

Our spy says: "They really hit it off and you could tell they fancied each other. They were very flirty and there was lots of giggling. Mark is low-key about women but others in Westlife's dressing room noticed how much fun Kimberley and Mark were having. They swapped numbers, so who knows what will happen next?"

Stunning Kim split from long-term boyfriend Stockport footballer Martin Pemberton in the summer.

Ray Panthaki (Ronny Ferreira in EastEnders) also fancies Kim. But let's face it, he's no competition for sexy Mark...

Westlife: We're fine without Bryan

Nicky Byrne isn't a big fan of photo shoots. The singer and his Westlife cohorts have just finished getting snapped in a snooker club in north London and Nicky's more than a little relieved.

"I don't like them," he says. "They're a bit monotonous. You have to wait while they get the light right and all that."

Kian Egan, however, has been enjoying himself. "These ones are quite fun because they're different," says the 24-year-old.

The boys have been posing by snooker tables all suited and booted with their hair slicked back for a magazine shoot to promote their recent Rat Pack covers album Allow Us To Be Frank.

As well as the slightly unusual surroundings, the shoot has also been given some added excitement by the glamorous and very leggy models whom the boys flirt with afterwards when the girls show them their portfolios.

Nicky's only partly convinced by Kian's argument. "It depends what you're doing," shrugs the 26-year-old. "If you're doing something like this it's OK, but if you're just standing there with a backdrop it's boring."

Life in Westlife over the past year has been anything but boring, however. In March they were stunned by the news that Brian was leaving the band and the remaining members, who also include Shane Filan and Mark Feehily, had to get used to being a foursome pretty quickly with a massive arena tour ahead of them.

"Doing the tour was good," says 25-year-old Shane. "That gave us confidence as a band. We get on with each other as good as we did when Brian was here, we're fine without him.

"Of course we do miss him. But we still see him a lot and talk to him on the phone. We miss him as a person in the band - you spend five years with someone, you're going to miss them, obviously.

"But we're a band and we don't have time to miss anybody. We've got to focus on what we're doing, on this album, that's the most important thing. Just because we lost a member of the band doesn't mean we lost a friend."

They've watched Brian's solo career with interest. They (predictably) say they liked his No 1 song Real To Me, but are keen to point out that, though Brian wrote it about his time in Westlife, they don't really relate to the lyrics.

They've also watched Brian's marriage to Kerry McFadden fall apart, something that must have come as a shock to them after Brian said he was leaving to spend more time with his family.

"Brian's our friend and Kerry's our friend," says Nicky. "We've always given them all the support and love in the world, as we are with what they're going through now.

"I don't know what's going to happen to them in the future but that's none of our business. We just give them support, what else can you do?"

"We wish both of them the best," agrees Mark. "That's the important thing."

Meanwhile the band had been planning their own comeback in the wake of Brian's departure. A mooted duets album with some of the biggest names in pop -including Lionel Richie, Diana Ross and Rod Stewart - quickly fell by the wayside.

"It wouldn't have worked," says Nicky. "We couldn't have toured it and whatever single you picked you'd have to make sure the other artist was available for promotion. We found out how difficult that was when we did the single with Mariah Carey."

Instead Westlife have gone in another direction. While filming a TV show in Ireland, someone pointed out how much they looked like the Rat Pack. From then on, the idea of a Rat Pack album began to come into fruition.

The boys' A&R man, one Simon Cowell, liked the idea and set the ball rolling. Now the band have immersed themselves in the world of Frank Sinatra et al, and recently went out to Las Vegas to film the video for their version of Nat King Cole's Smile.

While in Vegas they hit the casinos with plenty of enthusiasm, though only Kian came off well, winning over a 1,000 dollars. But that was as far as the band went in recreating the Rat Pack's legendary excesses.

"The four of us connect with what they were - really good friends who enjoyed doing what they do together," says Kian. "But as far as the [debauchery] is concerned I think we're slightly different."

This may be as much to do with the presence of Nicky and Shane's wives, Georgina and Gillian, on the trip as it is with the boys' sensibility. The other two, Kian and the eternally single Mark, have yet to get married. Recent reports that Kian's actress girlfriend Jodi Albert is leaving Hollyoaks to set up home with the singer in Dublin are, he says, completely untrue.

"I don't live in Dublin for a start," he laughs. "And she's not the kind of girl to leave a job to be with a fella, she's leaving to further her career.

"We're not thinking about marriage at all," he adds. "I mean, it could be on the cards, but not for a long, long time."

For now, Kian and the others are concentrating on making the Allow Us To Be Frank album as big a success as their previous releases. They'll be unavoidable on TV over Christmas and even have their own show Westlife - She's The One.

The programme follows the story of Westlife's search for a female vocalist to sing with them on their version of The Way You Look Tonight. They eventually decided on Bolton lass Joanne Hindley.

"The standard of entries was really high," says Shane. "But Joanne has a brilliant voice. Simon Cowell helped us choose, so you know she's going to be good. We broke the news to her in the supermarket with her mum."

With a big arena tour also pencilled in for early next year, the boys certainly aren't resting on their laurels since Brian's departure.

"Everyone's been waiting to see whether Westlife will be successful without Brian," says Kian. "But we did the tour without him and our fans reacted amazingly well.

"So hopefully it's not affected us too badly. We're just going to have to wait and see how well this album does. But we reckon it's going to be OK."

Name: Westlife

Date of birth: Formed in 1998. Nicky was born October 9, 1978, Shane July 5, 1979, Kian April 29, 1980, Mark May 28, 1980

WESTLIFE TAKE A VOW IN HONESTY

Irish pop group WESTLIFE have vowed to be true to their fans and tell them straight when they decide to split up.

Chart rivals BLUE recently announced they are taking a year off to pursue "solo careers", despite many tabloid reports claiming the foursome plan to go their separate ways for good and are lying to their followers.

Westlife singer SHANE FILAN slams Blue for being dishonest to their fans, insisting his group would speak the truth.

He says, "We're brave enough to say if we need to get away. If we did need time to get away we'd take time off and assess the situation. You don't bulls**t people.

"There's no way Blue's going to come back. You don't go and do things on your own and come back and do an album."

Children In Need raises over £17m

The Children in Need annual telethon has raised over £17m so far, and looks set to be one of the most successful in the event's history.
Loads of celebs including Girls Aloud, Westlife, Kylie and Natasha Bedingfield took part in the event which helps raise cash for disadvantaged children.

The cast of Coronation Street also put in an appearance and performed a spoof of the musical Oliver!

Organisers hope this year's appeal will top last year's total of £30 million.

But they'll have to wait a few more weeks to know the grand total as it can take weeks for donations to flood in.

People all over the country took part in events to raise money.

One radio DJ broke the world record for the longest on-air marathon, more than 100 hours.

Other people raised cash by taking part in sponsored car washes and cake sales. And in Scotland, a brave group of swimmers swam with sharks for the Pudsey appeal.

Helping children

The very first Children in Need telethon took place in 1980 and raised £1m.

The money is then given to groups and projects that help make children's lives better.

Westlife Interview at Cosmopolitan Magazine - December 2004
What's sexy now? Westlife

Nicky

Georgina is the daughter of the Irish Prime Minister which could have been quite a scary position. Did he vet you to ensure you were suitable material for his daughter?

I'm not sure he vetted me but it's possible he did a police check! When i first met him we went for dinner and i didn't have a clue what to say. But he's a Manchester United fan and i was 16 and a footballer so in the end we had lots to talk about. I think once he got to know me and realised i was a decent guy, he was happy enough.

You were married last year when you were both only in your mid-20s. Aren't you quite young to be a husband?

No, I think it's cool being married at 25. People say it's a bit young but when you've been with someone for a long time you love them and know it's right, why wait any longer? When i met Georgina at school I went home and told my mum I'd met the girl I wanted to marry. I remember mum saying 'OK son but you're only 14'. I always knew that Georgina was the one.

What makes Georgina so different and special?

She's really elegant, sexy, polite and to me just perfect.

Do you ever sing to her?

Every now and then but she usually tells me to shut up. The new album is full of very different kinds of songs so we had to study how the rat pack sang them. She helped me and now she knows every single word, she's a real sweetheart.

What's your favourite part of a woman's body?

Its always been the eyes. Its the first thing you notice. If a girl has beautiful eyes you'll look at the rest of her.

Apart from Georgina who would you most like to be stuck in a lift with?

I hate lifts so I wouldn't get in one. The whole band was stuck in a lift in Dublin two years ago and a fire crew had to get us out.

...a cupboard then?

Liz Hurley is sexy but she's probably getting on a bit now. Kate Beckinsale is another great looking girl and Cameron Diaz is absolutely amazing.

Are you looking to start a family soon?

When it happens that'll be the icing on the cake, but it's not going to be the near future. After seeing how difficult it was for Brian i wouldnt want that kind of pressure. Besides there are lots of things we'd like to do first. If the band ended tomorrow i'd like to release a solo album, do some acting or take a holiday. Be selfish for a while.

What's the sexiest outfit a woman can wear is she wanted to attract your attention?

I am most attracted to elegance - a stunning dress and heels are a real turn on. The higher and thinner the heels the better.

Do you have any naughty pictures stored on your mobile phone?

The problem with keeping naughty pictures on your phone is that if you lose your phone then you're in huge trouble. Georgina's phone was stolen two years ago and she had loads of photos on it, including one of me in my boxers, but luckily nothing too saucy.

Shane

Was Kian protective when you started dating Gillian?

Totally - he tried to put me off her, but I was besotted. Gillian and I started dating two years before Westlife was formed. We've been together seven years and married last December, I think he's OK with it now!

Does it ever feel like you're dating a female Kian?

Kian and I are very close friends and there are similarities, but obviously they are very different too!

What was the sexiest thing a fan has sent you?

When the band first started out we were sent loads of underwear. We still get loads of presents from fans but they're not so sexy now. I once said on TV that I liked medium sized Calvin Klein boxers as a joke. For months afterwards i was sent hundreds, i was stocked up, it was great! After that i started saying i loved cars, particularly Ferraris. But oddly no one has sent me one yet!

What make Gillian your ideal woman?

She is everything I want in a girl. She's caring, understanding, and has stuck by me. Having a husband who is in a band isn't easy to deal with. She's the one who's kept my feet on the ground.

You travel a lot. How do you keep the spark in your relationship?

I fly Gillian to wherever i am. We never spend longer than seven or eight days from each other.

What is your idea of a romantic evening?

I love simple nights, like going to the cinema, but our honeymoon was unbelievably romantic. We were in the Maldives and one night we had dinner on a secluded island where there was no one except two waiters to serve us. It was incredible.

What's your favourite part of a woman's body?

Well I love Gillian's nose - it's perfect. And she has great legs too.

Kian

Tell us about the time when Simon Cowell warned you off your girlfriend Jodi

Jodi was signed to Simon's record label as a member of one of his girl bands and he didn't want me getting involved with her because of that.

Do you see yourself as a heart-throb?

No, I see myself as a guy in a band loving what i do.

What attracted you to Jodi?

The first time i saw her, I thought she was beautiful. She was very friendly and had a big smile and puppy dog brown eyes. I called her and we got to know each other over the phone. When the time was right it just happened.

What's your favourite part of a woman's body?

I think the whole package is great!

What should a woman wear to catch your eye?

I prefer girls to look natural. I don't like a lot of make up. If a girl looks good in pyjamas she'll look good in anything.

How do you keep your relationship so strong when you are travelling so much?

We talk to each other all the time. It's very important for me to let Jodi know that i love her, because when one of you is away, it's very tough. Because she was once in a girl band Jodi understands my lifestyle. But i believe that if you're meant to be together, you will be, no matter what.

What's the most romantic thing a girl has done for you?

For my last birthday Jodi threw me a surprise party - I've never really had a fuss made of my birthday, and she was the first person who did. It was overwhelming and incredibly sweet.

Mark

Do you see yourself as a heart-throb?

No, definitely not. When I wake up in the morning and look in the mirror, it is the last thing I think!

Is it true that you can sleep for Ireland?

If I've had a heavy night, I'll stay in bed all day. I've done that plenty of times, but i feel guilty afterwards as I feel I've missed out on a good day.

Have you ever fallen asleep during sex?

I don't think I have - er, I hope not.

Have you visited strip joints?

Yes, they're fun. I don't find them very sexy though. Handing a girl money to lap dance isn't the same as when it's for real. But the novelty has worn off - after you've seen one strip club you've seen them all.

In the past you've said you would pose naked for a million pounds. Does that still stand?

As a band, we have conversations about this, and we usually say no. But at the end of the day, if there's a briefcase of cash on the table in front of you, it might be different. And when that happens I'll let you know!"

If you were to strip off, what do you think would be the sexiest part of your body?

The bits that aren't covered up by clothes are probably my best bits. I've got quite big lips and apparently some people like that.

What's the craziest thing a girl has done to attract your attention?

Sometimes girls pretend to faint at our gigs so they can be carried to the first aid area next to the stage, then all of a sudden, they're full of life again. In Indonesia one girl leapt on my back then wouldn't let go. It was quite scary.

How could an admirer get your attention?

By being friendly. A lot of people play hard to get and I'm not interested in that at all. If you like someone then simple things like eye contact or even saying hello work.

You're the only single member of Westlife and as a result people question your
sexuality. Does that bother you?

It goes with the territory. I'm not the only single 24 year old guy out there. First it's my own business and second I'll get married when i meet the right person. There are accusations thrown at me all the time - I just let them wash over my head

Band Aid 20 criticised by Louis Walsh

X Factor judge Louis Walsh is the latest star to criticise the Band Aid 20 single.

Walsh has revealed that he refused to allow his group, Westlife, to contribute to the single.

"It should have been called Bland Aid," he told the Sunday Mirror. "I don't like it at all. I haven't bought it and I doubt I will. It totally lacks all the passion of the first single.

"The original was fantastic, they should have left it alone. I didn't want Westlife to bother with it, I wouldn't let them. I didn't even call anyone about it.

"It's not as good as the first record - end of story."

Nicky ~ The family man - Nicky, 26, has been married for a year and a half to Georgina Ahern, who he has been with since he was 16. Shane ~ The romantic - Shane, 25, married Kian's cousin Gillian, in Dec 2003, who he'd been friends with for years.
Kian ~ The reformed playboy - Kian, 24, was linked to a host of famous women, but is now settled with Hollyoaks actress Jodi Albert.Mark ~ The bachelor - Mark, 24, is single, but has been linked to page 3-star Ebony and Bellefire's Cathy Newell.

Do blokes believe in love at first sight?

N : I do, it happened to me.
M : I don't think you can fall in love at first sight, because love develops, but I do think you can fall head-over-heels for someone.
K : I don't believe in love at first sight, but I do think you can be infatuated by someone - when you can't stop thinking about them.
N : Okay, maybe I don't believe in love at first sight. I guess you can't say it's love because you don't know her personality, but it's definitely an absolute infatuation - lust at first sight.

Do men ever fancy their mate's girlfriends?

N: If you did, you'd keep it to yourself.
K: It's easy to look at your mate's girlfriend and appreciate she's a good-looking girl.
S: You might compliment a mate's girlfriend, but to actually fancy her would be weird. It happens when you're kids, but when you're older that kind of thing is just not on.

Why do men find it so hard to show their feelings?

K: I have no problems showing my feelings.
N: But some fellas do. I keep things to myself as much as possible.
K: Yeah, but it's okay for men to cry nowadays. If I go to the cinema and it's a sad film, I'll be in floods of tears.
S: Do you remember when we went to see Armageddon? We were all in pieces.

How do men know when to say "I love you" for the first time?

N: When we come in from the pub and slur 'I bloomin' love you.' No seriously, everyone's different when it comes to that.
S: It's a big deal for a bloke to tell their girlfriend for the first time.
N: It's embarassing, especially when you're young, you don't know how she'll respond.
K: Even when you're older and you've been in a relationship for a while, you still get nervous about saying it the first time. I was nervous when I first told Jodi I loved her because I wanted to make it special. I told her in the sea in Barbados. Now I've always got that memory.

When you're in a long term relationship does the romance wear off?

K: Girls want relationships to be sparkly forever. I'm not saying you shouldn't feel like that, because if you're in love there's always that sparkle. But relationships do change and whereas guys are relaxed about it, girls get worried.
N: I'm really girlie when it comes to that because I like to keep it as sparkly as possible. If the relationship got to a stage where it didn't feel sparkly, I'd start to worry.
S: Since I got married my relationship's got better. Every day I look forward to seeing Gillian. It does change, but for the better.
N: You become best friends when you marry.
S: It sound cheesy, but you become soul mates.

How can you tell if she's The One?

S: You feel it in your stomach. Every time you see her, your heart starts beating fast and you get a pain in your stomach. I was friends with Gillian for ten years and then one night I realised she was The One. It then took a year and a half for me to get her. I couldn't sleep for six hours after I realised, and I can't describe
what changed but I just knew.
M: When you want to see her all the time and you're constantly happy. Some people like the kind of relationship where you're up and down and arguing, but for me, being happy constantly would be a sign.

Do blokes love spending time with their girlfriends as much as their mates?

N: Yes, but it's a different kind of time. Lads do love nights out with the boys.
S: It's a break. Having a night out with the lads once a week is healthy.
N: It pisses me off when girls don't understand. Georgina understands it 100%, but I've got friends who have girlfriends who just can't get it.
M: It's awful when either the guy or the girl goes out and the other one is constantly on the phone, keeping tabs on them. It's embarrassing and shows you don't trust them.
K: It pushes a guy away if a girl stops you going out with your friends. It pushed me away from one of my ex-girlfriends. I went out one night and my phone rang about a hundred times - I couldn't take it.

What does it really mean when a man says he'll phone & he doesn't?

N It's an easy way of letting someone down.
M It really depends on the situation. If a girl asks you to call her and you're not interested it's hard to turn around and say 'sorry I don't want to call you.' So it's far simpler not to call.
S If he likes you then he'll call. If he doesn't it usually means he's not interested. If he doesn't call you within three or four days, the forget it, he's not interested.

Can guys and girls ever just be friends?

N I don't think that men and women can be best mates without one of them wanting more.
K I agree with that.
N Two straight people can't be best mates.
S I don't have any female mates like that.
K If my girlfriend became best mates with a bloke, I'd be like, Oh really?
S Totally, what's that about?
K I think girls and guys can be mates, but not best mates.

Is it possible to stay friends with an ex?

K No.
S Not really, unless you break up well. But most break-ups don't end well.
M Straight after the end of a relationship, it's better if you don't see each other.
K If you were going out with someone for a long time, you can never be friends. It's a no-go area.

Do you think you could forgive a girlfriend if she cheated on you?

M The second that trust goes out of a relationship, that's it. It's too hard to get it back.
N You can't say what you'd do until your in that position. I'd go absolutely mental, but if you love somebody that much, what do you do?
S I couldn't get over it. I could never get it out of my head.
N Especially if it was sex. I'd be like, Jesus, there's no way. But, if it was just kissing, maybe you might get over that.
S I would find even snogging hard to get over.
K Yeah, but you'd get over that a million times faster than if it were sex.

Do men really prefer the mini skirt and stiletto look?

All Yeah!
S I love it!
K Not all the time, Jodi has a pair of white satin trousers and I think they're the sexiest thing she owns.
N I love Georgina in a tracksuit, but I love her in a skirt too. It changes all the time.
K I'm more attracted to Jodi when she's in a big comfy tracksuit cuddled up on the sofa with no make-up on, looking natural.

Why are men so obsessed with boobs?

N & S I'm not.
N I'm not really a tit man.
S I'm more of an ass and legs kinda guy. Some fellas are total tit men, but for me, boobs aren't everything. If a girl had the best pair of tits in the world, but a terrible ass and legs, she wouldn't do it for me.

Do men prefer a confident woman with a less than perfect body or a weight obsessed, lights off kinda girl?

K A confident woman with a less then perfect body. I'd hate it if Jodi were obsessed with her weight.
N Everyone worries about their weight. Some days you feel a bit bloated, so you eat a bit less. I know I do.
K I prefer a girl to have chocolate cake after dinner and go to the gym, than to sit there and not eat.
M The whole thing comes down to pressure to look a certain way. Girls feel pressure to look like waifs. It's a big problem.
S I feel sorry for girls when it comes to that.

Do men like being chased by a woman?

S I think some fellas love it if they're being chased by a woman, especially if they really fancy them.
N It's flattering and sexy if a good looking girl is coming on to you.
K What if she not so good looking?
S Then it's not so flattering.

What do men really think if you sleep with them on the first date?

S It's never happened to me.
M For all you know she might do it a lot or it could be the first time she's done it, so you can't judge her.
N It's better if she doesn't, but nowadays people aren't judged as much.
S I'm not saying it would never happen, but I think there's less chance of a relationship developing. It will probably just be a one night stand. If that's what you both want, then it's fine, but if one of you really likes the other person and the other one is like, see you later, afterwards, then it must be hard.

Can and do men fake orgasms?

S How can you fake it? Unless you have a carton of milk handy, sorry that's disgusting, but how would you do it? Like, here's one I made earlier? *HaHa*
M Men don't tend to exaggerate how much they're enjoying it.
N It's a mans best interest to have an orgasm. What would be the point of faking it? I know it's in a womans best interest too, but for women if it's not happening for them, it's just not happening. Men can make it happen, even when it's not good.

Why do blokes think helping around the house is taking one plate
to the sink?

M That's not fair!
K I do everything. My girlfriend can't cook, iron or clean, so I do it all. (*Gutted at Jodi*)
S My wife does everything, but I have to help out, I wouldn't get away with not.
N You moved out of your mothers house straight in with you wife - and now she does everything.
S Basically that's true, yeah. She's great. I still help out, even if it's just picking my pants up off the floor.
K That's one thing Jodi hates about me. As soon as I come in, I kick my boxer shorts in the corner of the bathroom and get in the shower - that drives her mad.

Do you mind if your girlfriend farts?

K Everybody farts.
N Georgina doesn't fart.
K Of course she does.
N No, my mother, my sister and Georgina don't fart.
K Well then, neither do I!
M A couple of girls I know, who shall remain nameless, have been known to fart and I think it's hilarious.
K I don't think it's disgusting when girls fart. Unless it stinks and then I might be a bit 'eurgh!'

Why do men watch TV with their hands down their trousers?

S Nicky does that, but I never do it.
N I love it, it's a comfort thing and everyone does it, maybe not as much as some but all blokes do it.
S You don't need to sit there for three hours watching a movie with your hands down your pants, though.
N It's not a sexual thing, it's comfort thing.

What do men really talk about in the pub?

K We can't tell you you're not a man.
